Welcoming Redwood City

This group represents our welcoming initiative and community engagement arm. Our mission is to build empathy, understanding, and supportive action to bridge social divides such as race, class, and immigration status. Each year, we organize Welcoming Week, United Against Hate Week, community dialogues, Welcoming Star awards, and more.

Recent Milestones:

  • Planned and coordinated Welcoming Week 2024 and United Against Hate Week 2024, which included over 7 events and engaged over 200 participants across San Mateo County

  • Hosted the 9th annual World Cafe, where over 95 participants learned from 3 inspiring speakers and participated in small group dialogues to discuss immigration over dinner and coffee

  • Honored 2 new Welcoming Stars: Jose Luis Aguirre and the Sequoia YMCA’s Safety Around Water Program

  • 52 local leaders, community members, and officials united in a powerful dialogue at World Café 2024

  • 660+ families, community partners, and volunteers supported OYE 2024, an annual Latinx Youth Conference
